eyewear

ok, this is my last post about my eyes..hopefully.  since i spoke with you last, i told you that I was getting contacts.  well, i did and the jury is still out.  it is nice to not have glasses on my face 100% of the time and to be able to wear sunglasses but i am not sure that i see any better than i did with glasses.  and, i've already heard someone say that i look younger...and if anything, i don't need to look any younger.

last night i got new contacts in the mail...the left eye lens is a higher power than what they gave me at the eye doctor..when they were checking out my eyes with the contacts in, we determined that my left eye needed a new prescription.  so, this morning i have the new contacts in and i feel like i do see a little bit better with the new lens, but it's such a small change from -4.25 to -4.50.  by the way, in case you are curious, my right eye is -5.00 and my left is...well, i just told you my left.

i still have to lean into the computer screen when i am at work...i thought this problem was caused by my astigmatism, but the eye doctor is saying now that it's probably just my dry eyes.  so, now, i keep re-wetting drops with me to help that.  can't use regular eye drops on my eyes now that i wear contacts.  if you see me and i look like i am crying...it's probably because i just used the drops.  i am terrible at doing eye drops and they end up all over my face.  i'm over the idea of putting stuff near my eyeball--i just can't see what i'm doing.

next post i'll talk about something different, i promise. i'm looking for a cheap gamepad for my computer, so if i find one i'll talk about my plans for it.  oh and i would post about the tragedy that was the grizzlies draft night, but i'm holding out for some trades.

getting contacts

tomorrow, i'm getting fitted for contacts.  i have a slight astigmatism, which i'm hoping contacts will help, so that will probably mean that i will have to special order them.  and i found out that i have dry eyes, so i have to start using eye drops...especially when i get the contacts.  i'm not a big fan of putting my finger in my eye, so we'll see how it goes....and i've worn glasses since i was in the 4th grade, so this will definitely be an image/style change for me.  i joked with a co-worker today that i may have to draw in some eyebrows.  mine are so blonde for some reason--it looks like i don't have any at all!  my glasses have helped me hide this fact.  oh this also means that i will return the rx sunglasses.  they are probably going to talk me into putting plain ole lenses in, so i'll still have the frames, i guess.  i didn't pay a lot for them since i have insurance, so I might as well keep them.
